Barça Academy U-15 vs. San Diego Surf

The U-15s had their most dominant win of the season, defeating Surf 5-2 lead by a hat-trick from Diego Hernandez. Hernandez scored a brace in the U-15s last match where they defeated Los Angles United Futbol Academy 4-2. Hernandez now has 10 goals in 12 games and is ranked 6th in goals scored this season for the DA U-15 West Region.

Hernandez opened the scoring in the 7th minute on Saturday against Surf on a rebounded shot from Charlie Matsumoto. Matsumoto found the back of the net in the 22nd minute after great work by Samuel Mendoza. Surf grabbed a goal back two minutes into the second half but Barça quickly responded a minute later as Diego Hernandez scored his second goal of the game. Surf grabbed another goal to make it 4-2 in the 49th minute. Diego Hernandez scored his third goal of the game in the 56th minute to restore Barça’s lead and they went on to defeat Surf 5-3 for their second consecutive win.

The U-17s who were playing on the parallel field fell 3-2 to Surf after nearly coming back from a 3-0 deficit. After a 2-0 scoreline at the half, Barça Residency Academy quickly found themselves down 3-0 just eight minutes into the second half. Ulysses Martinez grabbed a goal back in the 59th to make it 3-1. Martinez narrowed the deficit with a second goal in the 75th minute when Guillermo Lopez whipped a lovely ball into the box that he smashed into the bottom right corner of the net. With 15 minutes remaining, Barça looked to equalize but could not put one into the back of the net and fell 2-1.

Barça Academy U-19 vs. San Diego Surf

The U-19s who without their head coach and four starters defeated San Diego Surf 2-1 in the last match of the day.

Barça Residency Academy saw first half chances from, Jose Olmos, Enrique Zamora and Rodolfo Ramirez with Roberto Molina being involved in much of the action but great play from both keepers kept the game scoreless into the interval.

Surf opened the scoring two minutes into the second half with what would be their sole goal of the game. Barça responded just five minutes later when Jesus Virgen drove down the right side and pulled the ball back for Ryan Combe who’s shot had too much pace on it for the Surf keeper to make a save. Barça iced the game in the 77th minute when Roberto Molina beat his man down the wing and cut the ball back for Combe who put it past the keeper for his second goal. Barça defeated Surf to remain on top of the DA Southwest Division.
