Academy Recap: Mixed Results in 19 Game Weekend

In their second weekend of the season, Barca Residency Academy was challenged with their busiest stretch of the year. With all eight teams in action, the academy competed in a total of 19 games in a 72-hour span.
USSDA (DA) vs. FC Golden State
The U.S. Soccer Development Academy teams faced FC Golden State (FCGS) in their home opener. The U-15s and U-17s suffered their first losses of the season, falling 3-1 and 2-1 respectively to FCGS. The U-19s, on the other hand, moved to 2-0 on the season with a convincing 4-1 win over their FCGS counterpart.
Arizona Advanced Leagues
The Arizona Advance League teams had a very busy weekend as they competed in both league and tournament games.
The U-19s opened the Arizona Premier League (APL) season with a dominating shutout win over Arizona Thunder, defeating them 9-0. The Pre-Academy U-19s also competed in the Tuzos Challenge tournament over the weekend where they fell 0-0, 8-7 in PKs to Tuzos Academy in the tournament championship game.
The U-18s also opened their season this weekend, they handily beat Phoenix Rising FC 4-1 in their Arizona State League (ASL) opener.
The U-17s had a schedule much like the U-19s and played a total of 5 games. They fell 1-0 to Real Salt Lake – Arizona North in their APL season opener and finished 1-3 in the Tuzos Challenge.
The U-16s opened their season with two APL games. They shutout Tuzos Academy 5-0 and fell to Real Salt Lake – Arizona South 1-0.
The young U-15s opened their season with the Tuzos Challenge and finished with a 1W-1L-1D record.
