Barca Residency Academy’s MLS Next teams are competing in their final competition of the year, the MLS Next Fest, taking place December 6-11 in Indio, California. This premier winter showcase is the pinnacle event for North American youth soccer, bringing together over 400 elite teams for its fourth annual edition.
The event highlights top-tier talent and provides invaluable exposure for players, as college, national team, and professional scouts closely evaluate performances. In a new feature for this year, MLS NEXT Fest will offer Elite Academies the chance to qualify for the prestigious 2025 Generation Adidas Cup.
Barca Residency Academy Teams in Action
Barca Residency Academy will send all four teams to compete in two key event formats:
- MLS NEXT Fest Showcase: Barca’s U15, U17, and U19 teams will participate in the MLS NEXT Fest Showcase, playing three games in four days against top programs from across the nation, including New York City FC, CF Montreal, FC Dallas, and FC Delco.
- Generation adidas (GA) Cup Qualifier: Barca’s U16 squad has earned a place in the exclusive Generation adidas (GA) Cup Qualifier, a 16-team, single-elimination tournament. The winner will secure a spot in the coveted 2025 Generation adidas Cup, a showcase of the best youth soccer talent in North America. Barca’s U16 team clinched their spot in the qualifier by finishing at the top of the Southwest Division power rankings this fall.
Spotlight on Individual Talent
Three Barca players will take center stage in special showcase events at MLS NEXT Fest:
- MLS NEXT Fest Best of Matches: Diego Hernandez (U16) and Nolan Tinsley (U17) have been selected to compete in the Best of Matches for their respective age groups. This is a highlight event were top players from the East and West divisions compete against each other.
- 12/08/24 at 10:15am: U17 Best of Match
- 12/09/24 at 2:30pm: U16 Best of Match
- Uncommitted Matches: Sargon Adam will participate in the Uncommitted Match, a key event for U19 players who have not yet made their college decisions. This match offers a prime opportunity for college coaches to scout some of the top uncommitted talent.
