Barca Residency Academy Keeps Clean Sheet vs. Nomads SC

Casa Grande, AZ – Barca Residency Academy’s MLS Next teams completed a four-game shutout of Southern California’s Nomads SC in their second MLS Next fixture of the season. All four teams kept a clean sheet while scoring a total of 18 goals against the opposition. This marks the second consecutive undefeated weekend for Barca’s MLS Next teams as all teams advance to a 2-0 record.

Barca’s U-19s defeated Nomads SC 3-0, the U17’s won by a score of 1-0, the U-16’s cruised to a 5-0 result, while the U-15s routed Nomads SC 9-0.

Barça Residency Academy U-19s 3-0 Nomads SC

Barca Residency Academy’s oldest squad earned 3 points on Sunday with a 3-0 shutout win over Nomads SC. Darian Castillo scored a brace, Isaiah Thomas finished the third of the day, and Nathan Salerno kept a clean sheet in goal as they cruised past the Nomads to victory.

Barça Residency Academy U-17s 1-0 Nomads SC

Barca’s U-17s secured a vital 1-0 victory over Nomads SC in dramatic fashion as Zach Smuck scored a crucial penalty in the final minutes to give Barca the win and clean sheet.

Barça Residency Academy U-16s 5-0 Nomads SC

Barca’s U-16s put five goals past Nomads SC as they came up with a 5-0 victory over Nomads on Sunday. Barca put in a fantastic performance with goals coming from 5 different players. Leo Orejarena was a crucial piece for the U-16’s midfield as he provided a goal and two assists. George Okigbo was a dangerous threat on the wing and came up with a goal. Anthony Perez, Chase Hassfurther, and Kevin Garcia also contributed goals in Barca’s smooth victory over Nomads.

Barça Residency Academy U-15s 9-0 Nomads SC

Barca’s U-15 team, who defeated SC del Sol 7-1 the week prior, put in another incredible offensive shift as they tallied nine goals on Sunday. Their impressive run included scoring four goals in the span of four minutes. Omar Hassan and Dylan Thomas were brilliant as Hassan scored a goal and provided four assists in less than 45 minutes of play, while Thomas secured a brace. Both wingers were a huge problem for the Nomads’ defense as the match ended 9-0.

LOOKING AHEAD

All Barca Residency Academy teams will be in action this weekend. The MLS Next teams travel to Southern California for a weekend doubleheader against LA Surf and FC Golden State.

Meanwhile, in Arizona, the Elite Academy U-15, U-16, U-17 and U-19s will officially open their season on Saturday against RSL-AZ South at Paloma Sports Complex in Mesa.
