Academy Recap: Barça Residency Academy Split Results at Pateadores Academy

The USSDA teams (U-15, U-17 and U-19 Academy) traveled to Irvine, California to face a tough Pateadores side on the road. While the Pre-Academy U-17, U-18 and U-19 sides competed locally in the Arizona Advanced League.
Barça Residency Academy and Pateadores split the results right down the middle, with one win, one loss and one draw a piece. The Pre-Academy had fair results as they finished the weekend with two wins, two losses and a draw.

Barça Academy U-15 vs. Pateadores
In Irvine, the U-15s were first to face Pateadores and suffered a heartbreaking loss after a hard-fought game. After a 0-0 scoreline at the break, Pateadores opened scoring in the 48th minute. A goal by Dante Williams with two minutes remaining in the game leveled the score 1-1 but Pateadores took the game as they scored a goal just moments before the final whistle.
Barça Academy U-17 vs. Pateadores
The U-17s were next to take the field against Pateadores, defeating them 4-3. Caleb Suh scored two goals in the first half, giving Barça a 2-0 lead at the interval. The second half saw a Barça own goal, two Pateadores goals and two goals from Barça (Guillermo Lopez 58’ and Drew David 86’).
Barça Academy U-19 vs. Pateadores
The 4-0 U-19s rounded out the day in Irvine with a 1-1 draw against Pateadores. Pateadores scored in the 6th minute and took a 1-0 lead into halftime. The experienced U-19s leveled the score in the 68th minute with a goal by Ryan Combe and held on to their unbeaten record.
Arizona Advanced Leagues
Arizona Advanced League action began on Saturday when the U-18s took on southern Arizona competitors, Tucson Aztecs FC. The game got off to a slow start as both teams struggled to find their rhythm. In the 25th minute, Brian Park got a step on his defender as he drove down the right touchline, he cut in and connected with an unmarked Athan Cosse who took a touch and zipped the ball past the keeper. With no clear chances for either side in the final 20 minutes of the first half, the score remained 1-0 into the interval. Brian Park was great on the ball and created a few chances for Barça Residency Academy in the second half as he found Nolan Patterson and Athan Cosse on back-to-back possessions that were cleared by the keeper. Park was finally rewarded for his efforts in the 72nd minute when he made a great run down the middle of the pitch and played a beautiful through ball to Athan Cosse who converted the 1 v 1 with the keeper. The remainder of the game went without incident and Barça Residency Academy dropped Tucson Aztecs FC 2-0.
Meanwhile, the U-17s faced Classic FC across town with the game ending in a 1-1 draw.
The 2-0 U-19s who have had dominant performances over their previous opponents posted another shutout win on Saturday evening. The U-19s kicked off against Real Salt Lake – Arizona South and dominated the game from start to finish. Barça Residency Academy cut out several early chance before Tyler Hutchinson opened scoring in the 17th minute. Max Garcia added to the score just six minutes later when Patrick Zupic found him for the assist. Barça took a 2-0 into the half and quickly extended it when Hutchinson scored his second goal of the game, making it 3-0. Barça iced the game in the 85th minute when Hutchinson drove into the box from the right side and found Zupic who tapped it to Armadeo Chapru-Tate for a tap in.
The U-17s and U-18s took the field again on Sunday and both lost 2-1 to their opponent, the U-17s fell to SC Del Sol and the U-18s to Arizona Premier.
