Casa Grande, AZ – Saturday marked the official start of the 2022-23 MLS Next Season. Barca Residency Academy opened its season on Saturday morning against in-state competitors SC del Sol at Grande Sports World – Home of Barca Residency Academy. The four-game clash saw Barca’s U-15s, U-16s, U-17s, and U-19s earn victories over their opponent.
Barça Residency Academy U-19s 1-0 SC del Sol
Barca’s U-19s opened the day with a 1-0 win over SC del Sol. After a 0-0 deadlock at the interval, Darian Castillo converted a penalty kick in the 47th minute that proved to be the game-winner.
Barça Residency Academy U-17s 4-0 SC del Sol
Barca’s U-17 squad controlled much of the early possession and created multiple chances in the first thirty minutes of the match before opening the scoring in the 34th minute with a goal by Aiden Marquez. Barca continued to dominate possession in the second half that saw a brace from Mark Bronnik and a last-minute goal from Andrew Terrazes to secure a 4-0 shutout win over SC del Sol.
Barça Residency Academy U-16s 4-2 SC del Sol
Barca’s U-16s defeated SC del Sol’s U-16 side by a score of 4-2 with goals by newcomers George Okigbo, Kaden DeJarnette, Leo Orejarena, and second-year player Chase Hassfurther.
Barça Residency Academy U-15s 7-1 SC del Sol
Barca’s youngest squad enjoyed the highest offensive output of the day and routed SC del Sol 7-1. Xavier Cisneros recorded Barca’s first hat-trick of the season, Dylan Thomas netted a brace, while Chris Runde and Isaiah Kaakoush contributed the other two goals.

Barca Residency Academy will host Southern California’s Nomads SC on Sunday, September 18 at Grande Sports World – Home of Barca Residency Academy in a MLS Next showdown.
Barca Residency Academy’s Elite Academy teams will open their 2022-23 season on Saturday, September 24 at Real Salt Lake Arizona South.
