Casa Grande, AZ (September 14, 2021) – All six of Barca Residency Academy Pre-Academy teams competed in the 2021 Tuzos Challenge in Phoenix over the weekend. In usual fashion, Barca Residency Academy took home multiple championship trophies. This year, Barca’s U-14 and U-18 teams added hardware to the academy’s trophy case.
The U-14s, Barca’s newest and youngest team kicked off their 2021-22 campaign with an impressive showing. They shutout Arizona FC Select 5-0 in the opening match of the tournament and defeated tournament host Tuzos Academy 2-1 later that afternoon. They sealed the deal early Sunday morning with a sizable 8-2 win over Calico FC.
Barca’s U-18s coached by Aaron Wheeler came up with three hard-fought victories to claim the Tuzos championship title. They beat two tough Tuzos sides on Saturday both by a score of 1-0 en route to the deciding game on Sunday. On Sunday, they came out with a 2-1 victory over Lake Havasu FC to be crowned Champions.
