Barca Residency Academy defender Douglas Carbajal has received another call-up to the U17 Guatemala Men’s National Team as they continue preparations for the 2025 U-17 World Cup qualifiers. Carbajal will rejoin the team from January 4-12 as they prepare for the tournament ahead.
This marks Carbajal’s second call-up in recent weeks, as he participated in the team’s December 9-12 camp in Guatemala. Under the guidance of head coach Rigoberto Gómez, the U17 squad is working diligently to secure one of the coveted eight spots in the 2025 U-17 World Cup during the Concacaf qualifying event next month.
The Road to the World Cup
Guatemala’s Concacaf U-17 World Cup Qualifying event will take place in Guatemala from February 7-16, where teams will compete for a chance to represent the region on the global stage.
The Guatemala National Team has been drawn into Group E and will face Haiti, Antigua and Barbuda, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. Group H matches will also be held in Guatemala, featuring teams such as Jamaica, El Salvador, the Cayman Islands, and Saint Lucia.
The qualifying stage consists of eight groups, with each group winner earning direct qualification to the 2025 U-17 World Cup. Guatemala is aiming to make history by qualifying for the first time in this category.
