Barca Residency Academy’s Emanuel Recinos has been called up to the Guatemala U-17 National Team for the El Torneo del Sol (Tournament of the Sun), taking place January 11–17 at the Mexican Football Federation facilities in Toluca, Mexico.
Recinos began his national team duties with a training camp in Guatemala, where the U-17 squad, led by head coach Willy Olvera, started preparations on January 7. The team departed for Mexico on January 11 to compete in the Torneo del Sol, marking their first official competition of the year.
The tournament will feature three Concacaf national teams, Mexico, Guatemala, and Panama, and serves as an important preparation event ahead of the Concacaf U-17 World Cup Qualifiers. Competing against high-level international opposition will provide Guatemala valuable experience as they continue their qualification campaign.
The Concacaf U-17 regional qualifiers will take place February 5–11, with Group C hosted in Guatemala. Guatemala will face Haiti, Antigua and Barbuda, and Grenada as they compete for a spot in the U-17 World Cup.
Recinos was recently called up to the Guatemala National Team for a four-day training camp in November, where he impressed the coaching staff and stood out among his peers. His continued involvement at the international level reflects his development at Barca Residency Academy and the program’s commitment to preparing players for the global stage.
