Barca Residency Academy’s Joshua Sosa has been called up to the Guatemala U-20 Men’s National Team for a training camp taking place November 23–29 in Guatemala.
Sosa, who has both Guatemalan and Salvadoran heritage, has received call-ups from both countries. He last joined Guatemala’s U-20s in October 2023 at the age of sixteen and was most recently with the El Salvador U-20s in May 2024, the same year he was selected as an MLS NEXT All-Star.
The Illinois native is now in his fourth season at Barca Residency Academy, where he continues to be a constant and top performer. Most recently, he scored a goal and helped lead the U-19 MLS NEXT Homegrown squad to a thrilling 4–3 victory over LA Galaxy this past weekend.
Sosa will return to the U-19s following international duty as the group prepares for a strong showing at MLS NEXT Fest, taking place December 4-15.
