Pre-Academy teams Conclude Season in Far West Regional Quarter-Finals

The Pre-Academy U-16, U-17 and U-19 teams traveled to Boise, Idaho to compete in the U.S. Youth Soccer Far West Regional Championships that took place from June 17-21 at the Simplot Sports Complex.

The Barça Residency Academy teams got off to a great start and went undefeated on day one of the competition.

U-16 | 1-0 vs. Rebels Soccer Club

Goal: Adrian Sanchez

U-17 | 5-3 vs. Colorado Rush

Goals: Brendan Ryan (2), Adriel Sanchez, Dylan Akau, Quinn Grantham

U-19 | 5-0 vs. FC Boulder Academy

Goals: Ian Benites (2), Bryan Rodriguez (2), Armadeo Tate

The U-16s and U-17s remained undefeated on the second day of competition with two convincing wins and secured their spot in the quarter-finals.

U-16 |6-1 vs. New Mexico Rush

Goal: Adrian Sanchez (3), Yorgie Sanchez, Victor Rodriguez, Ocean Salari

U-17 | 6-3 vs. Helena Arsenal (MO)

Goals: Taylor Dummar, Aiden Flynn, Brendan Ryan, Dylan Akau, Quinn Grantham, Amin Sidialicherif

U-19 | 0-6 vs. FC Golden State

The U-16s finished the group stage undefeated, the U-17s took a 3-1 loss to Crossfire Premier (WA), and the U-19s fell 4-2 to Las Vegas Soccer Academy. The U-19’s finished in a three-way tie for second in the group and advanced to the quarter-finals with the best goal differential.

The quarter-finals took place on Friday, the U-16s kicked off against Washington Premier FC at 9:00 am where they suffered a heart-breaking 4-1 loss in extra time after a 1-1 draw in regulation.

The U-19s who played down a man due to injuries showed their grit in a hard-fought 3-2 loss to Arizona rivals and two-time defending Far West Regional Champions, Tuzos Academy.

The U-17s also suffered a tough loss as they fell 4-3 to Downtown Las Vegas Soccer club in extra time.
