“I was very happy when I got the email about making the YNT Identification Center and knowing that this is a big step forward that will help my future,” said U-15 MLS NEXT goalkeeper Austin Montoya.
U.S. Soccer YNT Identification Centers (IDCs) are free, single-day player identification opportunities for top talents to train and play games under the direction of U.S. Soccer Talent Identification Managers. IDC’s are a critical element to our Talent Identification Plan and are designed to identify and evaluate top talents for Youth National Teams, while accelerating their development in a challenging environment. IDC’s are scheduled throughout the year in key markets across the country.
“My experience was amazing, it was a whole different level of play,” Montoya added. “Everybody knows what is expected from them and that level was absolutely amazing. It will be an unforgettable experience.”
U.S. Soccer YNT Identification Centers are designed to replicate Youth National Team camps. Only players are welcome. Club representatives and parents are not invited to stay and watch the training session. U.S. Soccer’s objective is to create an environment where players take responsibility for their own development. IDCs are the pathway to the Youth National Teams.
The Identification Center was conducted while adhering to the strict U.S. Soccer Return to Play protocols regarding Covid-19.
