Three Shutout Wins at Home for Barça Residency Academy

Casa Grande, Ariz –After competing in a doubleheader on the road last weekend, the BarçaResidency Academy U.S. Soccer Development Academy teams (U-15s, U-17s, and U-19s) returned home on Saturday to take on Albion SC at Grande Sports World – Home of BarçaResidency Academy. For the second consecutive home gameday in a row, BarçaResidency Academy shutout their opponent in route of an undefeated gameday.

The U-19s took the field first and set the tone for the Academy with a 3-0 shutout win over Albion. Daniel Antunez’s U-15s put together the most commanding performance of the day as they kept a clean sheet and put seven goals on the board. Chris Harmon’s U-17s also kept a clean sheet and topped Alboin SC 2-0 to complete the undefeated gameday for Barça.

Barça Residency Academy U-19 vs. Albion SC

Though the match started a little slowly with both teams feeling each other out for the first 25 minutes, the Barça Residency Academy U-19s took control of the game near the half hour mark. In the 30th minute, Gaetan Hamid played a brilliant through ball to Amadeo Chapru Tate who opened the scoring. Seven minutes later, in the 37th minute, Takumi Ikeda displayed a tremendous bit of individual skill as he danced through the Albion backline before calmly slotting the ball past the keeper to make it 2-0. Just a minute later with great combination play down the left line, Barçascored its third goal of the half, this time put away by Guilermo Lopez who had an outstanding game.

With a 3-0 advantage, BarçaResidency Academy continued to impose its will in the second half. Gurillermo Lopez who nearly scored a brace but his goal was disallowed by a tight offsides call. The Albion goalkeeper made a few critical saves and BarçaResidency Academy cruised to a 3-0 win.

“This was a good professional performance from our guys, said head coach Ged Quinn. “With a number of players out with injuries and sickness it was a good test of our character and I thought we passed that test well. Keeping a clean sheet today was also important, with the personnel we have we are always going to be dangerous going forward and if we can continue to be collectively better in recovery, we will continue to get more results like we did today.”

Barça Residency Academy U-15 vs. Albion SC

The U-15s took the field next, Yahir Gonzalez Garcia opened the scoring in the 5th minute on a penalty kick. Teodosio Vargas made it 2-0 in the 26th minute and Barça took a 2-0 lead into the half.

Barça Residency Academy proved their dominance in the second half as they scored an onslaught of goals. Gabriel Enriquez made it 3-0 just minutes into the half. Alexander Lopez extended the lead to 4-0 in the 57th minute. Johnathan Gamez got on the board in the 70th minute to make it 5-0. Gabriel Enriquez completed a brace in the 76th minute and Yahir Gonzalez Garcia scored his eighth goal of the season before the final whistle to give Barça a 7-0 win.

“The boys had a good performance,” said head coach Daniel Antunez. “I believe we dominated possession from the initial moments of the game. The team was clinical in front of goal and limited Albion’s goal scoring opportunities. Overall I was pleased with the performance of the team”

Barça Residency Academy U-17 vs. Albion SC

The last match of the day, Barça Residency Academy U-17s had a tough task ahead of them to match the quality of the U-19’s and U-17’s performances. But they did exactly what they had to do to secure the result.

Though they did not score in the first half, Barça Residency Academy controlled the game from start to finish.

Barça Residency Academy was persistent in the second half and continued to create goal scoring opportunities. They were finally rewarded for their efforts in the 69th minute when Ronaldo Guadarrama put one past the keeper. Ocean Salari doubled the lead just six minutes later and secured the 2-0 result for Barça Residency Academy.

“I thought we did an excellent job controlling the tempo of the game and creating goal scoring chances,” said head coach Chris Harmon. “We need to improve on being clinical and finishing our chances as we generated many opportunities throughout the game. This was a collective effort and a great team win.”

LOOKING AHEAD

All three Barça Residency Academy DA teams will enjoy the weekend off. The U-15s and U-19s will resume play at Grande Sports World – Home of Barça Residency Academy on Saturday, November 23rd at against LA Galaxy Academy.
