USL Academy Team Opens 2025 Season; EA Teams Dominate NM Rapids

Barca Residency Academy’s USL Academy and Elite Academy teams were in action over the weekend, showcasing their talent both on the road and at home. The U-20 USL Academy team traveled to New Mexico for a season-opening doubleheader, while the Elite Academy teams took center stage at Grande Sports World, hosting New Mexico Rapids with commanding performances.

2025 USL Academy Season Opener

The U-20 USL Academy squad kicked off the 2025 season with two hard-fought draws against worthy opponents. On Saturday, Barca battled New Mexico United to a thrilling 4-4 draw, with goals from Makai Wells, Nolan Tinsley, Lorenzo Tuch, and Bodie Ford. The team returned to action on Sunday, securing another point in a 1-1 (Xavi Cisneros) draw against University Development Academy.

Elite Academy Teams Dominate New Mexico Rapids

Barca’s Elite Academy teams delivered a statement performance at home, overwhelming New Mexico Rapids with a combined 30 goals across four matches while conceding just one.

  • U-19s: 5-0 (Haiun x2, Fuentes, Figueroa, Castillo)
  • U-17s: 14-0 (Bojorque x3, Baruch x3, Willis x2, Trollope x2, Abgaryan, Brones, Vidrio, Ford)
  • U-16s: 5-1 (Parady x2, Cruz, Uyemura-Iga, Shakhbandarov)
  • U-15s: 11-0 (Jafta x3, Hameed x2, Levy, Madera, Narvaez, Efengio, Mack, OG)

Looking Ahead

Next up, Barca Residency Academy’s Elite Academy teams will take on RSL-AZ Southern at Kino Sports Complex in Tucson on Saturday, followed by a matchup against RSL-AZ South at Wild Horse Pass in Phoenix. Meanwhile, the MLS Next teams will host Las Vegas Sports Academy at home on Sunday.
