Casa Grande, Ariz. – A young Barca Residency Academy squad finished the 2023 Dallas Cup with a record of 1W-2L-1D as they competed in the most prestigious group of the tournament, the famed U19 Gordon Jago Super Group.
Competing with a group of U-15-U19 players with an average age of 16.6 years old, Barca Residency Academy kicked off the tournament with losses to Dallas Texans and eventual Super Group Champions, São Paulo FC. Barca then bounced back after a day of rest and battled to a draw with Fulham FC and finished the week strong with a win over Botafogo the following day.
Barca fell 0-2 to Dallas Texans in their opening game of the tournament. They found their rhythm the following day against São Paulo FC as they were narrowly beaten 2-3, with goals from Leonardo Orejarena (U16) and Aiden Marquez (U17).

Marquez scored his second goal of the tournament in Barca’s 2-2 draw with Fulham FC, while his U17 teammate Mark Bronnik scored the other goal.

Barca finished the week of competition strong with a 2-1 win over Botafogo, with goals from Samuel Mendoza (U19) and Sean Petrie (U17).
