Barça Academy U-19 vs. Surf Soccer Club
The U-19s put together a complete game from start to finish on Saturday. They got off to a great start, imposing their style of play on Surf as they dictated the tempo and created early goalscoring opportunities from both possession and their press which lead to Matthew Hoppe’s first goal. Matthew then scored his second goal soon after with a confident finish giving Barça a 2-0 advantage at the interval.
“We felt in control at half time but we emphasized the need to score the third goal to kill it off as a contest and we did exactly that,” said head coach Sean McCafferty.
Barça Residency Academy scored just one minute into the second half after a fantastic run, give and go and clinical finish from Owen Zaldivar. In full control of the game, Barça added a fourth goal from Caden Clark and Matthew Hoppe finished off an impressive performance with his third goal on the day and his 5th hat-trick of the season to give Barça the 5-1 win.
