Sosa Called to El Salvador U-20 MNT for International Friendlies

Barca Residency Academy midfielder Joshua Sosa has been called up to the El Salvador U-20 Men’s National Team from April 21-28 for a training camp that will feature two international friendlies. Sosa and La Selecta will host Texas Select FC and Pacific Regional in El Salvador as they prepare for the Concacaf U-20 Championship that will take place in Mexico this summer.

Sosa, 16, joined Barca Residency Academy in the fall of 2022 and has represented Barca’s U-16 and U-17 MLS Next teams over the past two seasons. A Chicago, Illinois native with El Salvadorian and Guatemalan roots, Sosa earned his first national team call-up in October of 2023 with the Guatemala U-20 National Team.

The U-20 Championship will feature the participation of Concacaf’s 12 best men’s U-20 national teams split into three groups.

Group A: United States, Costa Rica, Cuba, Jamaica

Group B: Honduras, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Canada

Group C: Mexico, Panama, Guatemala, Haiti
