2023 Barca Residency Academy graduate Cristian Gregoire has signed his first professional contract with MLS Next Pro club, Carolina Core FC, the club announced on Monday.
“Having seen Cristian play several times for the Barca Academy in Arizona, we are pleased to add this talented young player to our Carolina Core family,” said Head Scout Andy Williams. “He will add quality and flexibility to our backline.”
Gregoire, 18, hopes to make an instant impact and bring his competitive fire to the squad.
“I’m excited to step on the pitch for Carolina Core FC, carrying on the Gregoire soccer legacy with fire of ambition and commitment that is all of my own.”
Gregoire joined Barca Residency Academy in the spring of 2022. He was a member of Barca’s 2021-22 MLS Next Southwest Division Championship U17 team. The following season, Gregoire played a key role on Barca’s U19 MLS Next squad, helping them secure an MLS Next Playoff berth.
“Cristian has a high ceiling for growth and development and has all the tools to be a quality defender in MLS Next Pro.” remarked Williams.
