Barca Residency Academy’s U19 Elite Academy team brought home the academy’s first trophy of the 2023-24 season after winning the 2023 Arsenal Challenge this weekend. Coach Chris Osment and the U19s went a perfect 4-0 in the three-day tournament that took place at Legacy Sports Complex in Mesa, Arizona.
Barca kicked off the tournament with a dominant 5-0 win over Arizona Soccer Club on Friday evening. They faced a strong FC Tucson side on Saturday afternoon and battled to a 3-3 draw. On Sunday, in a must win game to advance to the championship, Barca’s U19s shutout El Paso Locomotive 5-0. They faced Bracket B winner SC del Sol in the Final in an intense battle that ended in a 2-1 victory for Barca to become the 2023 Arsenal Challenge U19 Gold Champions.
