On July 29, 2019, while Barça Residency Academy brothers Jimmy and Joey Glaab were home on summer break, they hosted a free soccer clinic for local children in their community to raise funds for their charity organization – Kidz on the Run.

Jimmy and younger brother Joey founded Kidz on the Run in 2012 at the ages of nine and seven when their best friend Cole Hexum was diagnosed with Stage 4 Burkitt’s Leukemia. The boys were eager to find a way to help their dear friend and were passionate about showing other kids in their community that not only adults but kids too could make a difference – a message they pass along to the children at their events.

The Glaab brothers started their charity by hosting a number of “fun runs”, they recently began hosting soccer clinics as their love for the game grew over the year.

To date, the boys have raised over $23,000 that has been donated to Team Cole, a charity organization founded by Cole Hexum and his family after his victory over cancer. Team Cole hosts several annual events throughout the year to raise funds for local children and their families who are battling childhood illnesses.

Last Monday, the Glaab brothers partnered with Lake Oswego Soccer Club in their hometown of Portland, Oregon to host their annual donation-based summer soccer clinic.

Local youth soccer enthusiast and three U-10 Lake Oswego SC teams attended the clinic. Lifetime friends Abod Ali (Willamette University) and Cole Hexum, who is now 15, in good health and playing competitive soccer, assisted the Glaab brothers with the nearly two-hour skills clinic.

“The boys love it,” said Jimmy and Joey’s mother Jennifer. “The boys taught them new exciting drills!  We went well over time and the young players were begging to keep going- it was great.”

100% of the proceeds from the soccer clinic were donated to Team Cole.

“The Lake Oswego Club also donated to the clinic and we are truly grateful for their support,” Jennifer added.
